"He's not a dog, he is a way of life."

- comment about an active Labrador Retriever at an Agility seminar

Dogs love to have a job to do, especially young dogs. It may be as simple as accompanying you on a walk or more challenging like spending the day hunting in the field.

If your dog is busy working, then he is not getting in trouble. If you look at the breed history of your dog, chances are there was a job your dog performed. Even though you may not need to ask your dog to do his job out of necessity, you can still ask him to do it for fun. There are people who get together to do lure coursing with their sight hounds, herding with their herding dogs and denning with their terriers.
